Sarah Bradburn

Chief Nursing Informatics Officer

Sarah is the Chief Nursing Informatics Officer at University Hospital Southampton and a Florence Nightingale Foundation Scholar 2021. Sarah is currently working on delivering digital inpatient noting Trust wide as well as driving other digital transformational projects such as the virtual transfer of care between acute wards and nursing homes, the virtual stroke assessments project and assisting with how we can improve patient flow with the assistance of electronic whiteboards, working towards electronic bed management and using BI to improve how we use information collected.

Sarah has a significant operational background as she worked in the Site office for a number of years as a Clinical Site Manager and then as the Operations Centre Manager before becoming the CNIO. Prior to her time in the Site team, Sarah worked in the General Intensive Care Unit as a staff nurse and then Sister. She is a regular on the Emergency Department out of hours senior manager rota and the Trust’s duty manager rota, which enables her to keep her hand in on the operational demands of the hospital, she is then able to draw on this experience when discussing digital solutions for patient flow across the Trust and in ED.

Sarah is passionate about how we can use digital to help the nursing, midwifery and AHP workforces find better ways of working and to help improve patient safety and experience.
