Professor Tom Lawton MBE is a consultant in Critical Care at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, head of Clinical Artificial Intelligence, and Honorary Visiting Professor in Computer Science at the University of York. He has interests in the use of routinely-collected data, simulation modelling, and safety in artificial intelligence. Most recently he is about to start work on a project with the Assuring Autonomy International Programme investigating models for the clinical use of AI in decision support which allow the inclusion of patient concerns, and avoid the clinician becoming a "liability sink" for the machine
